I am committed to maintaining the confidentiality of my clients. I do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose information about clients to any other party. I abide by HIPPA law which protects our relationship, with the following exceptions:
I do not accept Friend requests from current or previous clients on social networking sites (Facebook, Linkedin, etc) as I make every effort to keep the therapeutic relationship boundaries clear. The purpose of these accounts is to share information through Blog Posts, Articles, etc. All of this information is available via firstname.lastname@example.org, therefore friending or becoming a fan is not necessary to access such information.
Facebook, Linkedin, etc. are not ways to contact me, since these social media sites are not secure. Understand that I will not respond to wall postings, @replies, etc. or use them interactively due to confidentiality issues. If contact is required between sessions, please do so by telephone as I check messages several times a day whether I am in or out of the office.
I prefer to use email mainly for administrative purposes, ie. initial contact with a request about an appointment, to confirm appointment times, or to ask questions about my services, or other non-confidential matters.
Email is not completely secure or confidential, as emails are retained in the logs of your and my internet service providers. Please be aware that any emails received from you and any responses sent to you, become part of your legal record.
